"Derived from the Model 180 utility aircraft, the Model 182 was introduced in 1956. The swept tail was introduced on 1,960 aircraft. Production of the Model 182 was discontinued in 1976 and current production aircraft are the standard Skylane and Skylane II; the latter embodies a factory-installed avionics package. In 1977 Cessna introduced a new retractable-undercarriage version designated Skylane RG (and the Skylane RG II with factory-installed avionics). The RG aircraft were also fitted with the more powerful 235hp Lycoming engine. Total production of all variants exceeded 19,800, including a number build in France by Reims Aviation as the Rocket. Cruising speed is 253km/h. Retractable-undercarriage versions are known as the Skylane RG and Turbo-Skylane RG."
